In the border city of Zvornik, situated along the Drina River, locals can easily cross between Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina by walking across a bridge. At the two border posts on either side of the bridge, border guards rarely check identification or travel documents.
Still, for migrants this is another deadly crossing. After Hungary sealed the border with Serbia more people attempt to cross through the Drina river to Bosnia. A couple of months before our visit, 12 migrants were drawned in Drina.
